Chloe (Leelee Sobieski), a young medical student who is engrossed in her book, Peter (Steve Zahn), a talkative salesman, and a mysterious and silent man who is carrying a briefcase are all aboard a nearly empty night train. The man passes away after taking some pills, collapsing. Miles, the train’s conductor, is informed of the situation by Chloe and Peter. Peter finds a box containing some extremely priceless diamonds among the man’s possessions before radioing the incident. The three decide to divide the diamonds and dispose of the body to make it appear as though the man never boarded the train.
